164 works were submitted to the competition. An expert jury led by photographer and reporter Filip Springer assessed the artistic quality of the projects as well as their narrative coherence. “This feature is becoming more and more difficult to obtain today, because photographers, deprived of the ability to publish photographic series in the media, also lose the ability to arrange them” – says Filip Springer. “This shows the need to organize a competition like this one - it allows photographers to think about their photos in terms of a set, not individual shots. The awarded series are also of very high quality in this aspect”.

The organizer of the Poznań Photography Award is the Posnania Municipal Publishing House. The post-competition exhibition will be available for viewing free of charge until June 2nd in the Courtyard Gallery in Stary Browar. Poznań Photography Award aims to become a permanent part of the cultural calendar of Poznań and the Courtyard Gallery and to make a real contribution to the development of press photography in Poland. For the general public, the exhibition will be an inspiration in many fields: artistic, because they will see works of great craftsmanship, but also social, because the awarded series tell important stories about the world around us.
